This project involved me carrying every piece of clothing that I own (nearly my own weight in clothes) across the city. This is an exercise in bringing attention to one of the many ways in which we construct our identity. I tell who I am by showing these pieces of clothing, by representing the person inside, but when I wear them all at once & attempt to move through society, I become unrecognizable as anything--too many identities, too much clothing, too little for people to hold on to to define me as any one thing in their everyday experience. So I become a monster of sorts, or a clown, depending on who is looking.
